Saturday - Belleayre Slalom:
It was -6 degrees at the house when we left and it rose to a high of -4 degrees on this brisk Saturday morning. We were greeted by Ski Patrol and a snowmobile with trailer in tow at 7:30 and started up the hill for what would turn out to be a great day of competitions. After a series of small obstacles during set-up of the Slalom course, the event team was able to have both venues (Slalom & Slopestyle) set and ready in time for inspection. Once the mountain race crew set up timing, it was on.
Last weekend's events went smooth once again , despite the sub zero temperatures and it already being our CMS Slopestyle finals. We had a busy day at Belleayre Mountain on Saturday with a Slalom race in the morning and a Slopestyle competition in the afternoon. And on Sunday at Catamount some competitors really had to step it up if they wanted to end up as the first place qualifiers for Nationals in the Slopestyle division. All in all, we had a great time and are looking forward to the first BoarderX/SkierX this coming Saturday at Windham Mountain. See you there!
Former Slalom Bronze medalist at the USASA National Championships, Andrew Poladian, has come out of retirement to dominate the Open Class Alpine Events. Poladian racked up three Gold medals this weekend (2 in Giant Slalom & 1 in Slalom) on his 1st weekend racing since his decision to return to USA Snowboard competitions. Hard work, his new house and preparing athletes for the future are Andrew's focuses as we move through another Olympic year.
