From all across the United States, 32 regions have gathered at the 23rd Annual USASA National Championships of Snowboarding and Freestyle Skiing at Copper Mountain. Over 1,600 competitors are taking part in the largest snowboard and ski event of the world. For the first time, USASA will be breaking up competitors for skiing and snowboarding events to allow for growth. The Catskill Mountain Series has qualified competitors in all five disciplines (slopestyle, halfpipe, boardercross, slalom, and giant slalom) and we wish everyone luck that they can showcase their best talents in the next few days. Fresh on the heels of the Red Bull Future of Snowboarding event in NYC this past weekend, the CMS crew wrapped up their alpine events for the season and logged another round in Halfpipe competitions.
Despite a cold, dreary start to the day with slight rain and heavy winds, the Slalom event at Hunter Mountain on Sunday went off without a hitch. This ends the battle for the CMS tour leader spots in both the slalom and giant slalom events, and names the athletes for the CMS National Alpine Team.
